About
My story with yoga begins much the same as many other teachers, with the physicality of the practice. As a serious ballet dancer for all of my youth, I came to yoga seeking the physical benefits of improved strength and flexibility. What I did not know, was that as I connected body mind and soul through yoga, I would experience a freedom on and OFF my mat that I had never really allowed myself before…
Each being has within them all of the love and light and joy of the universe, limitless and boundless, dimmed and caged only by our own fears and doubts.
The truth is that you are nothing but a big ball of everything GOOD that this world has to offer. Our fears and doubts dim this truth and take away the BIGNESS AND BRIGHTNESS of our light. My belief is that your yoga practice is a tool to reconnect to the light within and to shed the fear that holds you back.
By approaching our yoga practice with playful curiosity about the body the mind and the spirit, we shed the weight that holds us down and take the physical practice to new heights.
It isn’t about doing a handstand or a perfect wheel or any other shape you make with your body… it’s about the joy and empowerment you experience working towards these shapes without the shackles of expectations. Understanding deeply how your body works and how best to move out of your own way is the path to freedom in your practice. That moment of surprise during which you discover a new limit and prove yourself WRONG about you, that is empowerment and freedom. Freedom in your practice is the path to freedom off your mat. To be part of your journey to freedom is the greatest honor and gift!
